Jake Appelbaum’s ongoing hacker event ‘comeback’ tour saw him (reluctantly) kicked out of CCC
"This might be insider baseball for infosec people, but hacking communities need to be on the alert that Jake Appelbaum is seeing which infosec conferences won’t kick him out, or conveniently never banned him. CCC is one of those conferences. (My writeup on Appelbaum with citations and sources on the record, and his relationship with CCC, is here.) “Yesterday, Linus Neumann and Frank Rieger were visibly uncomfortable when they met with me to discuss my confrontation with Jacob Appelbaum… After I asked Jake why he is here, and letting him know that he is indeed not welcome here, I contacted Projektleitung and was lucky this was handled relatively swiftly… CCC had everything they needed to start an investigation themselves – he even already attempted to “rejoin” the ranks of the community last year at Hacking in Parallel. Waiting for another incident and then essentially requiring the affected party (me) to go through an involved process is grossly negligent.”
